Research On Production, Distribution/Marketing & Consumption

The games industry consists if the following:

Developers: Developers are the people who create the game, compromising of engineers, artists and programmers. They write the code, create the structure and animate the game.

Publishers: these are the people responsible for marketing and distributing the game.

Distributor: These work with retailers to make the product available for consumers

Hardware Manufacturers: These create the hardware for the games to run on, for example: Microsoft, Sony & Nintendo.

Consumer: anyone that plays, buys or downloads the game.

Sometimes it is possible to develop without a publisher. This can be risky as their game might not be released but it gives the developer more creative freedom without the pressure of deadlines from from publishers.
